Steve Carell Injured on Almighty SequelPosted by: After falling out of a hummer during the filming of his newest film, Steve Carell is recovering from a "badly sprained ankle". The filming for "Evan Almighty" was taking place in Richmond Virginia when the "40 year old Virgin" star took the tumble/dive/trip/whatever. The scene was also rumored to involve sheep in some way. But according to the Universal Pictures spokesperson Carol McConnaughey, Carrel is "doing fine".The film of course is the sequel to "Bruce Almighty" but will not consist of Jim Carrey as a member of the cast. Morgan Freeman will return as God, but the emphasis of the film will be Steve Carell returning as his character Evan Baxter (the annoying news anchor whom Jim Carrey torments). This time Evan is given a mission by God to build an ark and get a pair of each of the world's animals into it to prepare for a world-wide flood. It will be interesting to see. Obviously the sequel has gone in this direction due to Jim Carrey's likely refusal to star, and Steve Carell's rising popularity. He is a good actor, but this whole "badly sprained ankle" business does nothing but make me think that stars get too much attention for the smallest of things. I'm sure that injuries are common place on movie sets. With all the wiring, lighting fixtures, pyrotechniks and glass, someone is bound to get hurt. Apparently Steve Carrell's "injury" isn't going to slow down the production of the movie which is good. I've heard of many stars willing to suck up the pain and limp their way in front of the camera. For the millions they make, I would expect nothing-less than total committment. Or at least be sure to include "no stunts" on the contract.
