New Promotions at The Weinstein Company

Kelly Carmichael and Carla Gardini have been promoted to senior vice presidents of production for The Weinstein Company, it was announced today by co-president of production for The Weinstein Company, Michael Cole.  In their positions, Carmichael and Gardini will continue to serve as the supervising executives on specific projects, working closely with Cole and Harvey Weinstein on the development of The Weinstein Company’s slate of films.  Carmichael is based in New York and Gardini is based in Los Angeles and they both report to Cole.

Carmichael and Gardini will work closely with writers and filmmakers to develop and produce a wide variety of projects for The Weinstein Company.

Michael Cole stated, “Carla and Kelly are hardworking superstars. Their flawless taste and ability to work with world class filmmakers make them key members of our team and an invaluable asset to the company.�

Carmichael began her career at Miramax Films in 1999 as the executive assistant to Meryl Poster, Miramax’s head of production at that time, and was promoted to a creative executive in 2003.  On October 1st, 2005, she joined TWC as vice president of production.  Carmichael has worked on many productions including “Awakeâ€? and is currently overseeing production on “The Nanny Diariesâ€? which is filming in New York City.

Gardini also began her career at Miramax Films in 1998 as the assistant to Jon Gordon, Miramax’s executive vice president of production at that time.  She left Miramax in 2001 to work for John Goldwyn, co-vice chairman of motion picture group at Paramount and in 2003 rejoined Miramax as a creative executive. On October 1st, 2005, she joined TWC as vice president of production.  Gardini has worked on numerous projects including the current production of “Fan Boys,â€? is an executive producer on “Clerks II,â€? Kevin Smith’s sequel to the 1994 Sundance hit “Clerks,â€? which is playing in a special midnight screening at the Cannes Film Festival, and is working on developing the untitled Dane Cook project.

Carmichael and Gardini are both overseeing the development and production of “The Great Debaters� with Denzel Washington directing, and the biopic of fictitious author J.T. Leroy based on a trio of articles by New York Times writer Warren St. John.
