BoxOffice Report May 7th, 2006

This weekend proved to be fairly Impossible as Tom Cruise takes the number one spot on this weekend's Box Office Report. Mission: Impossible III makes a huge opening weekend with over $48 Million (Only Ice Age: The Meltdown had a better opening weekend this year with its $68 Million back in March). Robin Williams "RV" moves down a spot from it's opening week, in the #2 spot. "An American Haunting" starring Donald Sutherland had a good opening weekend with over $6 million. "Stick It" and "United 93" remain fairly high up during their second week. With no surprise, Ice Age: The Meltdown also remains on the top 10 even after it's 6th week (Total Gross of $183,274,000). "Silent Hill", and "Scary Movie 4" also remain on the list. "Hoot" barely makes it to the list in it's opening weekend, and "Akeelah and the Bee" finally makes it to the top 10 in it's second week.

  1. Mission: Impossible III / $48,025,000 / Reviews
  2. RV / $11,100,000
  3. An American Haunting / $6,380,000 / Review
  4. Stick It / $5,522,000 / Reviews
  5. United 93 / $5,211,000 / Reviews
  6. Ice Age: / The Meltdown $4,000,000 / Review
  7. Silent Hill / $3,900,000 / Reviews
  8. Scary Movie 4 / $3,763,000 / Review
  9. Hoot / $3,400,000
  10. Akeelah and the Bee / $3,400,000

Next week Kurt Russell leads the cast of "Poseidon" surely into a top ten position. Lindsay Lohan has her next big feature "Just My Luck" also opening next week. "Mission: Impossible 3" may still end up holding the #1 spot. If the last six weeks have been any indication "Ice Age" will more than likely remain on the Top 10. However in two weeks CGI film "Over the Hedge" makes it's screen debut, giving movie goers another animated film to choose from. It may be enough to bump it from the chart all together.
Until next time...
