Halloween the Prequel

The 9th movie in the "Halloween" series is once again trying to take off and bring more slasher terror to the silver screen. "Halloween: Retribution" was put on hold last year when long-time producer of the series Moustapha Akkad was killed during the terrorist attacks in Jordon.

Writer Jake Wade Wall has explained that the 9th film, now being refered to as "Halloween: The Missing Years" will focus on the early years of the series' masked killer. Sort of a "The Life and Times of Michael Meyers" setup. We will watch as Meyers grows up, and eventually becomes institutionalized. The Moral of this story: When you can't come up with anything else, start over from the beginning.

For a while there was talk that the next movie in the series would actually pit Michael Meyers and Hellraiser's Pinhead against each other, trying to cash in on the "Freddy vs. Jason" action of a few years ago. They ended up ditching that idea, more than likely over rights issues, and have now settled on their prequel plot.

So was Michael Meyers a much scarier person BEFORE he became a magical weapon of terror? Guess we'll be finding out soon enough.
