Josh Lucas Campaigns For Harvey DentPosted by: Jerrica With "Poseidon" on its way, Josh Lucas is becoming more and more high profile. And, with all kinds of casting possibilities running around the Hollywood mill regarding the next Batman movie, among them spins word that Lucas has aspirations of portraying Harvey Dent (who becomes the notorious Batvillain Two-Face). In a recent interview with MTV, he had a chance to comment on that rumor:"Some of the people started asking about that, and [back] then I didn't know anything about it. I went and talked to Warner Bros. about it, because they're making it, and obviously I would love to do it. I think it's a great character. I like that someone could go from being bad to good and back and forth and light and dark, but also I think [series director Christopher Nolan] did an amazing job. And Christian Bale did an amazing job too. Christian and I did 'American Psycho' together, so it'd be like a reunion of sorts." What's interesting to note is that Lucas himself seems to have been unaware of the rumor until it surfaced from internet speculation. When MTV asked him about the word from the web, he replied, "I had heard that, when I was doing press on 'Glory Road.'" I find it ironic that in our modern entertainment culture the fans are able to give actors ideas about what roles would be nice matches for them.Wherever the casting ideas are coming from, the search is on for Batman's new supervillains. With the powerful fan reception of "Batman Begins," Ra's Al Ghul and Scarecrow will be tough acts to follow, so everything needs to be right for the next chapter in the Batman movie franchise. In "American Psycho," Lucas proved that he worked well with Christian Bale (who will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman for the next film) in the little screen time they had together. But, what's further evidence of his ability to pull off the role of the split-personality lawyer/gangster comes from such performances of his as the good guy in "Stealth" and the bad guy in "Hulk." Although, those films weren't necessarily the right forums for showcasing his talents. Josh Lucas clearly shows promise that has yet to be given a proper chance to shine, like his small role in the underrated "Session 9." Perhaps, "Poseidon" will give him a bigger platform to petition to be the next on-screen member of the Batman rogue's gallery. He certainly has the look and the charisma, and after seeing him on Broadway in "The Glass Menagerie," I have witnessed that he certainly has the skill to cross the range that Two-Face demands. Previous reports have indicated that Harvey Dent will be Bruce Wayne's ally in this film, as he started out in the comics, and then in the third film planned with Bale and Nolan, he will be transformed into Batman's menacing adversary Two-Face. With the role carrying a two-movie deal, the films can finally explore the potential of this character to its fullest extent, and whether its Lucas or somebody else, anything will be better than the embarrassing injustice that was Tommy Lee Jones's Two-Face in Joel Schumacher's "Batman Forever."
