The Word of the Day is Shazam!Posted by: ShawnThis may be good news or bad news depending on how you like your Super-Hero movies, and whether or not Peter Segal is going to stick with what he knows best. Coming up on his plate, the director of "Anger Managment" and "50 First Dates" has been given directorial rights for the movie "Shazam" (Not to be confused with the Shaq-Genie movie that to this day still makes me want to hurt people). The movie is actually based on the comic book series Captain Marvel, about youngster Billy Batson who yells the word Shazam to turn into his fully grown super-hero alter ego. Super strength, flying, all that jazz.
By the way; Captain Marvel is a DC owned character. I'll bet that's why they are calling it Shazam, otherwise people are going to associate it with Spiderman and X-men instead of Superman and Batman. It's silly, but you'd be surprised the confusion it could cause.
This could be bad news; because despite the fact that Peter Segal has made great comedies, Captain Marvel isn't really that type of comedy. The concept does come across as pretty comedic, but I'd rather they stick to the original story and not try to be abstractly "creative".
