Erica Durance Does Butterfly Effect 2

"The Butterfly Effect 2" is filming, slated for release next year with Erica Durance ("Smallville") as its lead. As for her leading man, that would be Eric Lively, probably best known as Mark Wayland on Showtime's original same-sex drama of the feminine persuasion, "The L Word." Other cast currently listed on the roster includes Gina Holden ("Final Destination 3," and the TV shows "Reunion" and "Supernatural") and Dustin Milligan ("Slither," "Final Destination 3," and the TV series "Andromeda"). With Durance leading the pack of fresh faces, the up and coming stars have their work cut out for them, walking in the footsteps of the original. But, if the prospect of revisiting the premise of the first "Butterfly Effect" wasn't enough to draw some interest, this fanboy's dream girl could bring more attention to the picture, even though The Movie Insider categorizes this "Butterfly" as going straight to DVD.

Durance has picked up a fan following as Lois Lane on The WB television show "Smallville." To date, "House of the Dead" has been her only real claim to big screen fame. Since doing that video game to horror movie flick, it's been TV all the way for her, making appearances on "Tru Calling," "Andromeda," "Stargate SG-1," and finally "Smallville," which has won her the most delicious time in the spotlight. After making her debut as Lois in season four of the show about young Clark Kent and his path to becoming World's Greatest Hero, Durance received such a warm reception that she was signed for season five and added to the cast as a regular. And, she's loving it. "It'd be nice if fans thought I was the sexiest Lois Lane," she recently told FHM. She also commented briefly on what she thinks of "Superman Returns," reaffirming her allegiance to the comic book geek in her and declaring that she will indeed be going to see it like every other fan.

With her career poised to take off and her first significant starring role in a movie, Erica Durance seems to be prime for a move from the small screen to the silver one. Unfortunately, the position of Lois Lane in the new Superman franchise is already filled by Kate Bosworth, and many "Smallville" fans will always wonder what could have been if the film had just naturally progressed out of the series with actors that had already grown into the roles as Erica has with Lois. But, what could have been is more a question for "Butterfly Effect 2" than it appears to be for Durance.
