John Travolta doing Hairspray Remake

The 1988 John Waters muscial /comedy will be re-made this summer. Already signed on are John Travolta, and Queen Latifah.  The story about a pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.
 
Helming this updated version is Director Adam Shankman who's last films were "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" and the Vin Diesel family comedy "The Pacifier"  Shooting will begin this summer.
