Clip: The Making of SILENT HILL

Posted by: Shawn
The more I read and watch about the upcoming "Silent Hill", the more I feel that this is not just some generic video-game movie. While the plot is directly based on the PS game of the same name, it seems as though someone realized the actual story potential of the game, and transferred it to the screen as faithfully and beautifully as possible. Whomever was behind the big-screen slaughtering of "Doom" must not have been involved here.

The making-of-video gives a solid and detailed look at the emotions and plot of this film. Much like the game, it concerns a town that exists in multiple dimensions. Sean Bean describes it as if it were "two movies". In one film Radha Mitchell's character searches for her daughter in a dark and twisted version of Silent Hill, while Sean Bean's character desperately searches for her in the town as it exists in our own dimension. While the concept almost sounds more science fiction than horror, one could argue that perhaps the dark version of Silent Hill is simply just another form of hell and it's grasp on our world.

The actors and the director do a better job of describing working on the film than I ever will. So take a look here if you have some time. I'm sure you'll be as excited as I am after you watch this featurette.
