Movie Review: Princess Dairies 2Posted by:alright, i know i'm going to take a severe ribbing from people but i felt that i should at least attempt to view this movie because it looked like a good chuckle from the commercial previews (and because i might be the only one to review it here). here goes (*braces for impact of tomatoes and other assorted vegetables*)... the movie starts out where the other one left off...except 5 years later. the main character, princess mia, finds that her grandmother is stepping down from thrown in a month and she must take up the responsibilities as queen. there is a catch though. parliment dictates that a woman must marry in order to weild power and there is another air to the thrown. little does she know that she has met this 'future king' at her 21st coming of age party only days before. the plot is very predictable with mia meeting the guy and prentending not to like him even though she secretly harbors feelings. all the while she has picked out a husband and is trying to force feelings for him so she can get married and rule the country. now we throw in an evil uncle who is trying to make this 'air to the thrown' king by using the boy to persuade her to not marry (she must do so in 30 days or she loses the crown) so that he will become king and weild power over the country. story goes on, mia falls in love with the guy, uncle makes a grab for the thrown and fails when boy finds he is in love with mia. mia goes to wed but finds that she can't because she is not in love with the chosen husband who is also not in love with her (they part...no hard feelings). mia addresses the parliment, asks for a revoking of the law that is holding her back. they all vote yes, law revoked, mia becomes queen. boy then later confesses his love for her. they live happily ever after, blah blah blah. this is a good family movie, nothing more. there are some witty remarks and bits of good acting here and there that make the film worth a chuckle or two. overall is the same story that has been told and retold through out the history of film: girl meets boy, girl falls in love, boy falls in love, they thwart evil, live happily ever after. not a good movie, but it could have been worse. save your money on the theatre and rent it when it comes out on video (because ticket costs are freakin high these days) if you have siblings around and feel in the mood for a light laugh.
