UPDATE: Friday the 13th: The Legend?

Posted by: Steve
A certain 'somebody' on the inside of the new "Friday the 13th" project has taken a look at the script and has said a little something about it to Arrow in the Head.  Scheduled for an October release, the new Jason Voorhees film has snatched up "Darkness Falls" director Jonathan Liebesman and has Platinum Dunes producing, who also were involved with the remake of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

The scooper had this to say about the script, "FIRST OFF: There is not a single reference to JASON X or FREDDY VS. JASON to be found within the story. Although the exact date for the sequence of events that are occurring is never mentioned, the film takes place somewhere between the events of JASON TAKES MANHATTAN and JASON GOES TO HELL."  He also notes that the full title of the film will be "Friday the 13th:  The Legend."  You can read the rest of the article right here.

UPDATE: The Arrow got an email by screenwriter Mark Wheaton. He told them that this scoop is false. So stay tuned for more Jason news, for we will keep you updated.

Jason Voorhees

In earlier reports, the film was speculated to be a remake of the 1980 original.  The original 1980 movie, directed by Sean S. Cunningham is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences. The well known character of Jason Voorhees only had a small part in the film, but New Line Cinema's new Version is said to substantially expand on his character and backstory.  Although, this film will expand on Jason's character and backstory, it will not be a retelling of the original.
