New Friday the 13th gets a director

According to Variety no other than the director of the popular "Darkness Falls" and the upcoming "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" will helm the new "Friday the 13th" movie. Yes, i'm talking about Jonathan Liebesman. The script is written by Mark Wheaton and the film is produced by Michael Bay with Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Variety also reports that the movie's story is centered on the origins of the Jason Voorhees character as portrayed in the first four pics in the series.
 
The original 1980 movie, directed by Sean S. Cunningham is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences. The well known character of Jason Voorhees only had a small part in the film, but New Line Cinema's new Version is said to substantially expand on his character and backstory. Also Jason will wear the famous hockeymask, which he is known for since the 3rd part of the original series. Stay tuned for we will definitely keep you updated.
