WonderCon : The Hills Have Eyes CoveragePosted by: MovieManX The Hills Have Eyes previewed a bit of information at the San Francisco Wondercon this weekend. Producer and the original film's director Wes Craven sat down with cast members Vanessa Shaw, Aaron Stanford and Dan Byrd to talk a bit about the film. Craven seemed quite pleased with the Alexander Aja-directed remake, which Craven believes won't
diminish his original "Hills" in any way. "I
don't believe remakes can help or hurt an original film. Remakes are their own beasts, good or bad". The cast didn't really have too much to say, but they did confirm that no one was seriously hurt during filming in such dangerous mountain terrain. For young actor Dan Byrd, the clip that was played said it all: In the clip, Byrd, with quite realistic acting, as if seeing dead people is impossible for him, he tells his party that he found a woman cut open and that "there are like, people living in the mountains". For all you horror fans who are sketchy of the now-common remakes going soft or pg-13 on the originals, fear not, as this redux's NC-17 version has an 11 minute sequence of a pregnant woman getting raped! If it's anything like Aja's previously directed film "High Tension", then I'm sure it'll provide buckets of gore... At one point during a fan's Q&A session, Craven was asked to give the fan and her boyfriend their money back for the film "Cursed". Thats right, the master of horror himself got called out. In response, when asked what was next for him, he told Fox Searchlight rep. Michael Brody that he would have the fan killed. Then her boyfriend. Then her family and her pet cat. Joking of course, Wes went on to say that the "Cursed" production itself was cursed, as he lost all control over the film once the studio's got their hands on it. "I needed intensive therapy after that", he joked. He was being serious, however, when he stated that he's no longer working with the Weinsteins, but did not mention if this was directly because of the "Cursed" disaster or not. He's now set to do a live show in Las Vegas entitled"Wes Craven's Magic Macabre". Be sure and read Sheila Roberts The Hills Have Eyes(2006) Movie Review
