January 31st.
Frank Herbert’s "DUNE" is definitely one of the best Science-Fiction
books. In 1984, director David Lynch adapted the story and made one of
the most impressive SciFi movies. Produced by Dino de Laurentis, he had
found a company that also wanted to see this story on the big screen
and was willing to spend the money on it. Some costs had been
minimized, because of shooting "Conan – The Destroyer" at the same time
and at the same locations. David Lynch worked 3½ years on this movie.
The complete production time from the first sketch till the first
copy of the movie took about 6 years.
