30th Annual Atlanta Film Festival Accepting Entries

IMAGE Film & Video Center is now accepting submissions for the 30th Annual Atlanta Film Festival. The film festival will take place June 9-17, 2006 in Midtown and Downtown Atlanta, Georgia (USA). Entries must be received by 6:00pm (Eastern Standard Time), Friday, February 3, 2006. IMAGE Film & Video members have an extra week to submit their entries: 6:00pm (EST), Friday, February 10, 2006. Applicants may submit their films online and receive a $5.00 discount through http://www.withoutabox.com/ or, an entry form can be downloaded at http://www.atlantafilmfestival.com/. Applicants may submit films in the animation, narrative, documentary, student film, teen screen and experimental categories.

The Director of the 30th Annual Atlanta Film Festival is Jake Jacobson, an internationally known film critic and broadcaster. Mr. Jacobson is the founder and inaugural film programmer for the award-winning Rome International Film Festival. Mr. Jacobson has reviewed over 23,000 films in his career and has interviewed over 3,000 artists in the field of cinema worldwide. Mr. Jacobson has worked as an international broadcaster and journalist for the BBC-London and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

All works must be submitted on DVD or 1/2” VHS (NTSC system only) for prescreening. DVD submissions are preferred. Please do not send film reels or original material. Eligible works must have been completed after January 1, 2004 and must not have been publicly screened in the Atlanta metropolitan area prior to the 2006 festival dates. All works selected must be available by May 26, 2006 for inclusion in the festival.

All entry fees should be payable to IMAGE Film & Video Center in U.S. currency by check or money order, except those paying by credit card. At the request of those submitting outside of the U.S., IMAGE is offering the option of paying by credit card (note: $1 processing charge will be added to your entry fee if you use a credit card).

Entry Fees are as follows:

  • $50 - Works entered by distributor or for-profit business
  • $40 - Works entered by an individual or non-profit
  • $30 - Works entered by IMAGE members and/or students (Enclose a copy of membership card or student ID)
  • Free - Works entered by a student under age 18, will be considered for Teen Screen only (Enclose a copy of student ID or proof of birth date)

Over the past 30 years, the Atlanta Film Festival has introduced audiences to some of the most exciting and innovative media created. Ranging from the hilarious to the visually arresting, from the provocative to the boldly experimental, the Atlanta Film Festival has become one of the country’s premiere showcases for work by independent media artists in the United States and abroad.

Films selected for competition will compete for over $100.000 in cash and in-kind prizes. The 2006 short narrative winner will be eligible for Academy Award® consideration.
