Sommers gets his dream project, Flash Gordon

Stephen Sommers will now be adapting the film that he really wanted, Flash Gordon. Sommers will be producing and he may write the script. He has never produced a film and not written the script as well.

Flash Gordon dates back to 1934, when it was created by famed comic strip artist Alex Raymond, and for decades after appeared in movie serials, animated fare, TV shows and a 1980 feature helmed by Mike Hodges (Croupier).

Variety also adds that Top Cow will also publish a new comic book seires which Sommers will serve as creative consultant. Well its good to hear that at least they are going to market the film well. You can't bring back Flash Gordon without reviving the comic book.
