BattleStar Gallactica Season 2 Reflections

Posted by: Michael
I finally had a chance to check out Battlestar Gallactica Season 2 and was VERY excited since Season 1 was so good. With the 12 colonies of man virtually destroyed in the climax of a hundred-year war with the Cylon Empire, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) gather up the few humans left and embark on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, not realizing that the Cylon robot is no longer a recognizable enemy.

Battlestar Galactica is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series – upping the ante on the action, adventure, and drama that made the original so popular.

The series is just as good as Season 1 but it has one very serious flaw which is a big turn off for those of us waiting for it to come to dvd so we could watch it. Its very very short. How short? The entire series is 3 discs, and the 3rd disc has 2 episodes only on it. Season 1 was 5 packed discs full of great sci-fi action so to say the new shorter season was a major let down would be a huge under-statement.

Last Season we got to see just how diabolical the Cylons are. They wiped out billions of humans and now the last 40,000+ survivors are on the run with the last lone BattleStar trying to keep them alive. This season they are still on the run, still severely outgunned but now we are starting to see a more social side to the cylons. Some cylons who were hiding as humans are now involved with these people and have developed a new plague... love. The relationship between men, women and the cylons has really gotten interesting.

Fans of the series wont be dissapointed its a great season with alot of action and some great character development. I found the series much darker which was a good thing with some situations that were very mature but also very well done. Had the season been given more legs by having another 8 or so episodes Season 2 would be as good as season 1. So although it is a good series it is to short to compare to season 1. So it is a must buy but a big let down in the length. Lets all hope BattleStar Gallactica Season 3 is longer!
