Universals first ever release of The Frighteners on DVD cometh and to kick things off they have sent us some details as well as some eye candy to wet your horror comedy urges.

Previously released only on Laserdisc as The Frighteners: Signature Collection (a.k.a The Director's Cut), it has ever since been sought after and is extremely rare. With DVD now as the successor, fans of the film will be able see it to the way it should be seen.

Universal has finally announced plans to release the DVD of Peter Jackson's The Frighteners: Director's Cut which includes 12 minutes of additional footage of the film. This single-disc special edition will be available to own this November 29th.

Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) is a private psychic detective in a small Northern California town. Years ago he had a near death experience when he lost his wife in a car accident. Since that time he's been able to communicate with the spirits of dead people roaming the land. Instead of using his powers for good, he recruits a few dead ghosts - Cyrus, Stuart, and the now retired Judge ghost (John Astin) - to haunt peoples houses so he can make a living. Crossing the ultimate barrier into a world where all fears are realized, Frank's nightmares become all too real ... and true evil does not die.
