Halo Movie UpdatesPosted by: SolsticLooks like there are reports buzzing that the Halo movie could be starting production very soon. According to Scoop Independent News, the film adaptation of Microsoft/Bungie's hit videogame series will begin filming in May with a summer 2007 release date planned.
The news of this timeline was apparently included in a press release promoting the recent charity auction featuring Xbox and Halo 2 game autographed by newly-signed Halo movie producer Peter Jackson. There are no current reports indicating who will helm the directors spot at this time but there are still several months to figure that out. It seems very likely at this point that the production of the film with happen in Wellington, New Zealand this spring. Also according to Bungie.net, Bungie's Joe Staten recently meet with Jackson and Fran Walsh in New Zealand. While over visiting with Jackson, Staten has been quoted saying that, "Believe it or not we actually did some work on the Halo film during our stay," he says. "Among other things we had a series of good conversations about script revisions and director options." These kind of things give my heart a warm relaxation. I don't want to jinx anything but it all sounds very promising. This movie could be the closest thing to a true Video Game movie. Having said that I can only hope that Hollywood watches this very carefully, cause if they pull it off. This movie should be the template that all other video game adaptations are judged by. But as I said I don't want to jinx it, so I am just going to cross my fingers for now.
