Black Christmas Remake Cometh

For those not familiar with the story line to this horror classic... A sorority house is terrorized by a stranger who makes frightening phone calls and then murders the sorority sisters during Christmas break. Fast forward to present day, Weinstein Co.'s Dimension Films have obtained domestic distribution rights to 2929 Prods.' remake of the horror thriller "Black Christmas".

A redo was rumored back in March, but not until now has much other information been given out. Currently, Dimension has Glen Morgan (X-Files, Final Destination, and Willard) and James Wong (X-Files, Final Destination, The One) listed as writers, producers, and directors for the project.

The original 1974 Canadian (yeah they make Horror films in Canada) horror film, directed by Bob Clark (A Christmas Story, Porky's, and the recently announced remake of Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things) paved the way for the slasher movie craze of the 1980s, bringing forth movies like Friday the 13th and Halloween.

Black Christmas is set to start shooting in January. A Christmas 2006 release is planned.
