Iron Man Movie Dead !!! Dead I Say!

Is Iron Man Dead? Word is that it is. Marvel Studios and New Line announced last November that Nick Cassavetes is set to direct "Iron Man". But according to Variety it turns out there was never done a deal. Cassavetes is still in the running to direct and New Line remains committed to making the movie, but as of today Variety is reporting its a dead deal. Apparently Marvel now has the rights.. so lets see where it goes.

Avi Arad (Marvel Studios) said "We want Nick to make the movie. We had him. He's an 'Iron Man' aficionado. Everything was fine and then negotiations got delayed. We lost a year." It looks like Cassavetes is still the first choice for directing and he is working on a rewrite of the script by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and David Hayter.

Based on the long-running Marvel comic book series, "Iron Man" is the story of Tony Stark, a driven inventor and executive who straps on billions of dollars in armor and weaponry each night to fight crime, terrorism and corporate espionage.
