Texas Chainsaw prequel starts filming

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Movie Photo Click for Fullsize ImageFangoria reports that the prequel to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" Remake began shooting in Austin, TX this week. Jonathan Liebesman is going to direct the movie (formerly subtitled "The Beginning"), Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line Cinema. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing.

The story will go backwards a couple of years, trying to answer questions about the character Leatherface. In this prequel the filmmakers also want to explain why Leatherface uses a chainsaw, and how his mask originated.

There is not much known about the cast, but R. Lee Ermey will be reprising his role as Sheriff Hoyt and Andrew Bryniarski will return as Leatherface. Other actors starring are Jordana Brewster,Taylor Handley,Matthew Bomer and Diora Baird. The movie is scheduled to come to cinemas October 6th, 2006.
