Alien Apocalypse DVD Update

Alien Apocalypse is now out on DVD from our fine friends at Anchorbay. Alien Apocalypse is the #1 Sci-Fi original film ever. That shows your straight what kind of draw that Bruce Campbell has. Alien Apocalypse, the newest Bruce Campbell vehicle is a rollicking, bug-kicking good time. Brought to you as an original Sci-Fi movie, this is the story of astronauts returning from a space-probe mission after forty years of cryogenic sleep. They find that Earth has been invaded by giant mites from an unpronounceable planet that have enslaved humans in order to harvest precious wood.

Humans are either slaves or bounty hunters working for the bugs and wearing vinyl pants. Grammar has apparently fallen out of fashion in the future along with personal hygiene. No one has thought to attempt to kill any of these creatures before, but are instead waiting for the fabled US president to lead a revolution. But he has not shown his face in the twenty years since the invasion. Ivan (Campbell) and friends set out on a pilgrimage to locate the would-be hero.

They end up proving (as usual) that humans working together can accomplish anything...and also that big, green bugs bleed green blood. The battlefield looks like Linda Blair paid a visit. There is nothing new about the story (written and directed by Josh Becker)but fans of Campbell will enjoy more of his usual humor. This is 'Starship Troopers' meets 'Army of Darkness.' Silly at times, it is smothered with great lines like: "What's TV?" "None of your damn business" and "They die like anything else, only a lot louder and they spew green crap." Or my personal favorite: "...your stupidity is terminal and now you're cured." I think I'll use that one. :)

Ivan longs to be "The Great Healer" as he is the only doctor remaining, but instead becomes "The Great Exterminator." If you are not a fan of Bruce, you should probably skip it, but I would watch him umclog a toilet. This is him at his campy best. I guess his name isn't CAMPbell for nothing. :) There ain't no such thing as too much Bruce.
