Rene Zellweger in EYE Remake

YES! I was hoping I would get another asian remake! Ok no, that was complete sarcasm. Variety is reporting that Rene Zellweger is going to be going the route of many and do a remake of The EYE. Yeah, I won't be going to see this...

In the Pang Brothers original version, a young blind girl, Mun (Lee Sin-Jee) who gets a cornea transplant that returns her sight soon discovers that she's received more than she expected, as she starts seeing... ghosts.

Hoping to find an answer to the mystery of how to make the ghosts go away (or at least stop them from being scary and threatening), she begins an investigation of what happened to her corneas' former owner, Ling.

So does anyone else find remakes the cheap path to a buck? I would much rather see a creative and newly written movie then a remake.
