When Zombies Attack! New Indie Zombie Flick

Matt & Chad did the effects for Hellboy, Men in Black, Predator, and more.Their abilities really shine in this absolutely fantastic short film about Zombies.

When Zombies Attack!! is a mock video documentary that follows heroic officer Frank Hadely of the Post Mortem Animation Control (P.M.A.C.) as he strives to protect and serve the citizens of Burke County while investigating and ridding the community of the ever present threat of the undead.

I had a chance to sit down with Matt and Chad for a recent interview which and chad had the following to say about "When Zombies Attack"

We made the film for ourselves to blow off steam. We shot it COPS style so we didn’t have to worry about film. We figured we’d get away with video if it were reality TV style.

Over a period of about two years or so, Matt and I wrote scripts, created makeups, made the props,etc. We then shot and edited it in our free time. That’s why it took so long.

We never thought this would turn into something more than just for fun. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback for When zombies Attack!! People like Guillermo del Toro and Frank Darabont have been very supportive and encouraging. We are now focusing on making the short into a TV series.

I think its pretty obvious to most WHY this became more then just a "fun video". The work that Matt and Chad did on this movie is fantastic. It is probably one of the best zombie shorts I have ever watched period. Very much reminds me of Shaun of the Dead and in the same league.

When asked what their inspirations for the film were Chad told us

I am a Romero zombie fan- I love his Dead series and look forward to his next one. His take on zombies is still my favorite. Lethargic, slow and hungry. (Although, I did enjoy Brian Keene’s zombies in The Rising.) I really like Creepshow too. My favorite is probably Day of the Dead.

The Dead Trilogy is great. Martin is cool and Creepshow is a lot of fun- great writing and an incredible cast.
