Poseidon Remake Makes Waves

The world has been turned upside down on the set of Wolfgang Petersen's new film...but have no fear, it is meant to be upside-down. He is Re-making the movie The Poseidon Adventure, which is now being called Poseidon. Oh well with a new title it can't be part of the trend in hollywood, right? "Re-makewood."

For those that have not seen anything on this newer version of the 1972 classic, it stars Kurt Russell (Escape from New York), Josh Lucas (Stealth), Emmy Rossum (Day After Tomorrow), Richard Dreyfuss ( What About Bob?), and a slew of other talented actors and actresses. Wolfgang himself as most should know was also the man behind Troy, The Perfect Storm, and Das Boot.

According to Mia Maestra (Timecode) in an interview with The Chicago Sun-Times, "Wolfgang has built everything twice, one is the normal set before the boat turns upside down and the other set is the same exact part of the ship, but upside down. It's so strange and disorienting to walk around those rooms. If gives you a sense of awkwardness. It's like being in some strange abstract painting."The Argentinean actress described her character in the movie as a stowaway who is trying to reach her brother in New York. She also said she'd be paired up with Richard Dreyfuss for much of the movie.

Poseidon is the story of a cruise ship that capsizes on the high seas, leaving its passengers and crew with bleak chances for escape and survival. Poseidon is scheduled for release on May 12th of next year.
