Dreamworks picking up Splinter Cell Movie?Posted by: MichaelAccording to Game-Reviews.ca Dreamworks is beating at the door to take over the Splinter Cell movie. Originally it was a paramount flick and was to be directed by Peter Burg. But that has apparently all come apart. paramount and dreamworks are both great studios and if anyone can do right by this movie they can. Splinter Cell is one of the hottest games around and made Tom Clancy a house hold name for all gamers. This has the potential to be one of the biggest film franchises around. The next bond if you like. Stay tuned, as we get more we will let you know. In response to the growing use of sophisticated digital encryption to conceal potential threats to the United States, the National Security Agency has ushered forth the new dawn of intelligence-gathering techniques. The top-secret initiative is dubbed "Third Echelon". Its existence denied by the US government, Third Echelon deploys a lone field operative. He is sharp, invisible, and deadly. He has the right to spy, steal, destroy, and assassinate to protect American freedoms. His name is Sam Fisher. He is a "Splinter Cell". Sam Fisher works alone. But fights for us all. Peter Berg is directing and also writing the script along with "Splinter Cell" game writer J.T. Petty and John J. McLaughlin. The movie is aimed at combining the game's blend of stealth action with a "dynamic, original" character. No actor for the lead role has been confirmed yet, but names like Mark Wahlberg, Thomas Jane and Kurt Russel are floating around.
