Voltron: Defender of the Universe movie comingPosted by:Not only the "Tranformers" are coming to the big screen, but also another giant robot kids TV series. According to The Hollywood Reporter producer Mark Gordon has teamed with music producer Pharrell Williams, World Events Prods. and producers Mark Costa and Ford Oelman to make a big-budget feature of the 1980s TV series "Voltron: Defender of the Universe". The animated TV series debuted in 1984, about at the same time as Hasbro's Transformers toy line, igniting a morphing robot phenomenon. The story being developed will be based on the 1980s series about five maverick explorer-pilots who must travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron, a giant mechanical warrior formed by five smaller robots. The original "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" is the futuristic tale of a time when the universal forces of good have consolidated into the Galaxy Alliance. The Alliance's mission is to explore the universe to help those in trouble and to fight the dark forces of evil. In an attempt to achieve its mission, the Alliance brings together five of the toughest young space explorers in the galaxy - Sven, Keith, Lance, Pidge and Hunk - each possessed of extraordinary fighting and piloting skills. At first detained and made slaves in the sport arena of Planet Doom, the five heroes escape and travel to the Planet Arus seeking the secret of the legendary Voltron, the mightiest battle robot in the galaxy. Piloting their own individual 'Lion' robots, the five discover that in times of great danger they are able to combine the Lions to create the mighty robot warrior, Voltron, the Defender of the Universe.
