Tony Kaye directing Reaper + Teaser PosterPosted by: M8 Entertainment and Circle Of Confusion LLC announced that visionary and critically acclaimed director Tony Kaye is attached to direct their new project, "Reaper". Kaye earned widespread critical praise with his visually groundbreaking film, "American History X", for which Edward Norton received an Academy Award nomination. Since that film Kaye has been working as one of the world’s preeminent commercial directors, but Reaper represents the first feature film project that Kaye has agreed to take on since "American History X".
"We’re enormously excited to have Tony Kaye, a filmmaker with incredible vision and talent, join this project. Reaper is an ideal vehicle for a director with a strong visual style, and we expect that Tony will bring a whole new dimension to the film, conceptually and commercially," stated Sammy Lee, Chairman of the Board for M8 Entertainment and a producer on the film. "Furthermore, this continues M8’s new focus on working with top directors – directors like Wayne Kramer and Mike Binder," further added Lee. "Tony is a great asset to the project," said David Alpert, a Circle of Confusion partner, and producer on the film. "He has exceptional insight into how to ground the story with great characters, and yet make it incredibly exciting through its genre elements." Written by Gary Whitta, "Reaper" is a stylish thriller/neo-noir in the vein of "Blade Runner" and "Seven". M8 Entertainment is co-producing the film with Circle of Confusion LLC. Pre-production is currently underway. "Reaper" tells the story of Virgil, a private investigator who finds himself recruited by the darkly beautiful and mysterious Delia. As he begins to work for Delia, Virgil finds himself suddenly immersed in a surreal underworld, one where the boundaries of life and death – as well as right and wrong –are completely blurred. This unlikely journey also reveals the harrowing answers to the fate of Virgil’s own daughter. Source: M8 Enertainment |
