King of the Ants DVD Release

The end of this month marks the long-awaited release of the film festival favorite that left audiences gasping for breath until the very last scene, King Of The Ants, on DVD. To celebrate this event, the director and cast of this gritty noir thriller will be on hand to sign autographs and chat with fans, at Dark Delicacies bookstore in Burbank. Attendees will get the opportunity to meet acclaimed director Stuart Gordon, alongside actors Chris McKenna, George Wendt, Vernon Wells and Lionel Smith, on the day of the DVD's release: Tuesday, June 29, 2004. Dark Delicacies is located at at 4213 W. Burbank Blvd., in Burbank, CA. The King Of The Ants signing is slated to begin at 7:30 pm.

Called "unique, violent, depressing and at times very funny," by Creature Corner and a "shattering, but always realistic horror story," by Dark Side Magazine, King Of The Ants is a shockingly brutal entry to the crime noir genre. The latest masterpiece of acclaimed director/screenwriter/producer Stuart Gordon, King Of The Ants follows the twisted path of average guy Sean Crawley--a part-time house painter and full time drifter--who is contracted to dispose of a pesky City Hall accountant (Ron Livingston) by the owner of a construction company (Daniel Baldwin) and his right-hand heavy (George Wendt). The arrangement quickly proves that there truly is no honor amongst thieves and begins Sean's descent into madness and revenge.

Because of its masterful blend of horror and violence, King Of The Ants was hailed for being "a nihilistic crime story in the Reservoir Dogs/Fight Club tradition" by Movie Freak.com. Nitrate Online proclaimed it "an uncompromising tunnel into the dark underbelly of life, hatched by one of flimdom's most fertile imaginations." While, the Daily Mail gave it kudos for being "a brave, abrasive, alarmingly realistic debut." Produced by The Asylum and released on DVD through DEJ Productions, King Of The Ants, will be available beginning June 29, 2004.
