Contest: Hide & Creep DVDS!Posted by:Boy oh boy are you in luck. We have a handfull of Hide & Creep DVDS to give away to all you MovieFanatics. The movie Hide & Creep came in one of the nicest press kits I have scene with a handy and hilarious "Zombie Outbreak" pamphlet with little warning signs to help me identify a zombie attack. I give them major kudos for putting together a great press kit. With an indie film a press kit means alot since its the first thing we see and puts us in a great frame of mind before we press PLAY. The trailer for Hide & Creep is quicktime and will take a minute to load depending on your connection.

In the sleepy town of Thorsby, Alabama, its one of your typical bumpkin towns. Rednecks, and BBQ. Then the dead showed up. Now instead of just killing time the people of Thorsby are killing each other, taking up arms as the zombies take to the streets, the barbecue joints and the strip bars. Soon spaceships are flying overhead, federal agents are patrolling the grounds and a few fearless individuals are joining forces to run like hell. A story about the lives we forget to lead, the people we fail to bury properly and the scary-ass creatures we have to eliminate along the way, Hide and Creep is a celebration of those who rise to the occasion just when all hope and television reception seem lost. A zombie film with brains, a comedy with boobs, Hide and Creep puts us on the front lines of a backwater town in crisis, giving us a taste of a community starving for action and a murderous horde hungry for human flesh. Hide & Creep I thought looked good and it is. Although its not good enough to bump Stink of Flesh from the #1 indie zombie flick, it was good enough to make it #2. Hide & Creep like Stink of Flesh is your typical indie zombie movie but it has a creative story. So many indie zombie movies follow the same tired road, and it was nice to see Hide & Creep bring in some new elements. Homeland Security, Redneck Gun Collectors, and Lesbian Zombies. Yes I know all the men sat up on that last mention. Hide & Creep is one of the best written indie films I have watched, the acting is acceptable for the most part and the limited FX work well, with one head shot that was so classic I had to watch it again later on to appreciate it fully. So often indie film makers focus on the gore and how the zombies look and how many bodies they lay out and blow apart, and FORGET about the important item.. having something that people want to watch. A good story is paramount to a good film and Hide & Seek is one of the best written zombie films I have watched. Their is alot of witt and humor in the film which is very akin to Shaun of the Dead and my personal favorite Dead & Breakfast. Watch for the writer of this film to really break out since his talent is so obvious. Now that I am done praising the story I need to hammer on the editing. With that said please remember we got a screener copy so although it was slick their is no doubt your copy you buy will have more spit and polish. The audio in this movie was really bad. It took alot away from the movie and really ruined what could have been some really great scenes. That said the fantastic story won the day and easily brought you back into the film. So you might be watching a stand off with lots of gunfire that sounds more like paintguns at 100 yards instead of gunfire, but it all ends well since it typically leads into some witty scene that draws you back in and enables you to overlook what you just saw. I think that this movie with some top notch editing and a few minor reshoots could easily be THE #1 indie zombie flick on the market. Not that being #2 is a bad thing. I know hundreds of film makers who would love to be #2. If you watched the trailer at the start of this review you can see what I mean. The review is well edited and just stands out as what this film is.. a kick ass movie that needs a bit of tweaking. Despite the fact that the sound and scene editing stood our sorely in this movie the story itself just made you want to watch more. It was one of those movies you just want to love. I will give you some examples. The chief is out of town when zombies attack ,and the only deputy on duty, well he woke up in Florida drunk. SO needless to say the shit has hit the fan and law enforcement is not coming to the aid anytime soon. So if you have a dead body in your shop because it just tried to bite you and the cops are not around, what do you do? Well you drop it off and leave the cops a sticky note of course! Cause you cant have some body laying in your place of business now can you? Dead Guy, Call Chuck 555-0226
Another hilarious scene is the one in the trailer where you see the house with the dead zombies scattered all over the yard and porch. My first reaction was holy shit what happened here! Some Rednecks cleaned up! It ends up being two little kids. One about 12, the other about 6 or 7 with a Machete and a Shotgun. I about pissed myself laughing. This is just another scene showing off the writers skill. Probably one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen. This is just one of many examples of a well written story. Their are dozens to choose from in this movie. Lots of laughs and lots of shaking your head going WTF.. but in a good kind of way. I feel very strongly in the fact that with some editing this movie, which already is top notch, could really work that much better. The story is just to good to not get the editing it deserves. Better sound mixing, a bit better scene editing and this movie will blow away indie film lovers like myself and easily put it head and shoulders above all other indie horror movies I have scene including Stink of Flesh. With that all said I think that 90% of you would absolutely love this film. I realize not everyone watches hundreds of movies, sometimes 10 at a time, and can appreciate and overlook more then us picky bastards can. So I give the movie Hide & Creep an 8/10 and rate this only second to Stink of Flesh which I absolutely love. I would like to see an edited version of the film and hope that some distributor reading this will see the value in this film and be able to see the potential in not just the movie as it is, but an edited version. I think that it is more then worthy of the shelf right now, but with editing it would easily fit into a limited theatre release!
