Steven Spielberg takes on history again with his potentially most controversial film to date. Production began quietly in Malta  on June 30th for his upcoming as of yet UNTITLED film that takes on the events surrounding the hostage crisis of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

On September 5th, 1972, Palestinian terrorists associated with Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and calling themselves "Black September" infiltrated the Israeli Olympic team's sleeping quarters in Munich and took the athletes hostage in an attempt to free hundreds of Arabs from Israeli and German prisons. The resulting battle between the terrorists and police ended in the death of 11 Israeli athletes, 5 terrorists, and 1 german police officer.

After the smoke had cleared, Israeli prime minister Golda Mayer called for a new compaign of counterterrorism named "Wrath of God". The PM instructed intelligence agents to find and kill all of those who were behind the Munich attack.

This film will explore the "Let's go get some terrorists" mindset and provide audiences with a frame of reference for what US and coalition troops are currently dealing with during today's War On Terror. This film is scheduled for a December 23rd, 2005 release through Universal Pictures, and will be creating a lot of Oscar buzz.
