Cult icon Crispin Glover added to Fear FestivalPosted by:Rue Morgue Magazine and Daniloff Productions are proud to announce the addition of cult icon CRISPIN GLOVER (Willard, Wild At Heart) as a Special Guest of the second annual RUE MORGUE FESTIVAL OF FEAR Canadian National Horror Expo 2005. Glover will be part of the weekend festivities taking place August 26-28, 2005 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The dynamic actor/director will also be premiering his 35 mm directorial debut, WHAT IS IT? on Sunday August 28 at 9 pm at the Bloor Cinema (506 Bloor St. West, Toronto, tickets $20 in advance and $25 at the door). The screening will include Glover’s BIG SLIDE SHOW! presentation and a formal question and answer session with fans. WHAT IS IT? is the first in a trilogy of surreal, inter-connected features directed, edited and financed by the eccentric actor. Told almost entirely with a cast of Down ’s syndrome actors and including the voice of Faruza Balk, WHAT IS IT? is about "the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are salt, snails, a pipe and how to get home, as tormented by a hubristic inner psyche." Glover's BIG SLIDE SHOW! is a multimedia presentation/performance mounted using images from the actor’s hardcover art-books, audio sampling from his album THE BIG PROBLEM and text read aloud. Victorian precedents are recalled with the creepy, sinewy etchings and expository titles modified through Glover’s own disturbing aesthetic. The San Francisco Examiner describes WHAT IS IT? and THE BIG SLIDE SHOW! as "Fellini or Lynch on psychedelics -- wildly creative and completely twisted." Crispin Glover will be joined at the RUE MORGUE FESTIVAL OF FEAR by Guest of Honour CLIVE BARKER (Hellraiser, Candyman, Nightbreed, Books of Blood), and fellow special guests ELVIRA MISTRESS OF THE DARK (a.k.a. Cassandra Peterson), LINDA BLAIR (The Exorcist), TONY TODD (Candyman), ELIJAH WOOD (The Lord of the Rings, Sin City), splatter superstar GUNNAR HANSEN (the original Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ‘74), cult horror icon KEN FOREE (Dawn of the Dead, The Devil’s Rejects), and many, many more.
