Brian De Palma directing Untouchables prequel

Brian De Palma will direct a prequel to his masterpiece The Untouchables. We reported about this prequel 1 year ago when it was titled "The Untouchables: Mothers Day" and Antoine Fuqua was set to direct.

The original movie was a 1987 feature starring Kevin Costner as Eliot Ness, Robert De Niro as Al Capone and Sean Connery as Malone, the cop who teaches Ness how to beat the mob: shoot fast and shoot first.

De Palma's prequel now is called "The Untouchables: Capone Rising" and centers on young Al Capone's arrival in Chicago and his rise to criminal kingpin status. The film charts Capone's collision course with Irish cop Johnny Malone, the character played in the original by Sean Connery.

Distributed by Paramount, the movie is scheduled to come out 2007. No cast has been announced till now.
