Orlando Bloom to play Bond?

Pirates of the Carribean star Orlando Bloom is being lined up as the next James Bond? This one doesnt quite make alot of sense to me. I like bloom but this doesnt seem like his kind of role.

Film producers are desperate to sign the 27-year-old as a replacement for Pierce Brosnan, who retires from the role after the next movie.

Apparently the logic behind this new choice in Bloom is they  want to move away from the traditional image of James Bond - the older, suave gentleman  and attract a younger audience. This also explains the thoughts of using Britney Spears as a bond babe.

A spokesman for Bloom said that "no decision had been made" about the role.
