Fox and Universal team up for HALO

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures are teaming up for the movie adaptation of the Microsoft video game "Halo." Its said that Universal will take domestic rights and Fox will handle international on the project. The deal would divide the pic's cost on a 50/50 basis between Fox and Universal.

The story of the game is about a powerful fellowship of alien races known as the Covenant is wiping out the Earth's fledgling interstellar empire. The Master-Chief and the other surviving defenders of a devastated colony-world make a desperate attempt to lure the alien fleet away from Earth.

Shot down and marooned on the ancient ring-world Halo, a guerilla-war against the Covenant begins. The fight for humanity against an alien onslaught also leads to uncovering the mysteries of Halo.
