Ambitious Feature Film in Ohio by SonnybooPosted by: Columbus, OH, July 6th, 2004 – Award winning filmmaker Peter John Ross has begun filming an ambitious horror film set in World War II around Ohio. The film, entitled HORRORS OF WAR, concerns three stories of horror and suspense set in the European campaign. The film features World War II re-enactors and regional actors. As an alternative to Hollywood practices, Ross has released the first scene from the film online instead of a normal preview."How many times have you seen a preview for a movie, and then the movie was terrible?", says Peter John Ross, co-writer/director. "We wanted to show people we can tell a story, not just show them pretty images." The "trailer scene" can be seen online right here as well as a visual FX demonstration by Columbus animator Donald Drennan. Starring in the clip is Jon Osbeck, a Central Ohio actor who has appeared in commercials for Safe Auto, Kroger, and Huntington Bank. "What we are trying to do is make a feature film with the best quality, at a cost that will make it profitable", says Ross, a Columbus resident. "As our scene demonstrates, we can make Hollywood-style movies at a fraction of the cost." HORRORS OF WAR will continue shooting in September and October 2004. Each of the three segments will be directed by a different director to offer a different visual style and storytelling. John Whitney and Jon Osbeck are in line to helm the other two segments for Peter John Ross, who will produce the film. Emmy award winning cinematographer and alumni of the Ohio State University’s defunct film school, Scott Spears will lens the movie. Peter John Ross was recently profiled in the July 2004 issue of the highly respected Computer Arts Projects magazine from the UK.
