Joss Whedon talks Wonder Woman

Our colleagues from NowPlaying had the chance to talk to Joss Whedon, who is currently working on getting his Serenity movie finished, about his upcoming adaptation of the DC comic Wonder Woman. Many rumors are floating around the net who will portray the Amazonian princess, but it looks like everything is still open. Read on for a clip from the interview:

"[Casting] is the last thing on my mind and I’m happy to say it’s the last thing on Warner Bros.’ and [producer] Joel [Silver’s] mind too," he says. "We’re like, ‘Let’s write the part! Then we’ll have a better idea of who’s good for it.’ And we’ve talked about whether it should be someone famous or an unknown. Ultimately there are advantages to both, so nobody’s thinking about that… except everybody."

Whedon also sees Wonder Woman as being quite different from most of the other big screen superheroes.

"She doesn’t have a villain as recognizable as [a Lex Luthor]. In fact, she doesn’t have a lot of things as recognizable as a lot of the other heroes have, but that’s not a problem simply because she’s basically based on Greek mythology, which opens up a world of interesting possibilities. She’s very different from anybody who might have been bitten by a spider or had his parents killed in an alley."

The director also said, that he hasn't even started writing the screenplay yet, because he wants to fully concentrate on Serenety at the moment.
