Roswell Season 1 DVD Review

Rarely do I enjoy a TV series, but I gotta tell you after having just finished season one Roswell is a pretty darn good tv series. On TV and with all the commercials I probably would have lost interest after 3 or 4 episodes, but since its on DVD and I can skip over crap I actually found that for the most part Roswell the first season was funny, entertaining and at times even exciting and pulsing with action!

Roswell for those like me who did not know follows the story of 3 aliens who dont know where they are from, why they are there, they just know they are  not human. Max Evans saves Liz who is shot in an altercation in a restaurant by healing her and that is where all the fun begins. I do take some issue with the overall story, but I guess it is television. You have 3 aliens who are in their late teens who have hid their entire lives by not doing anything abnormal and within 6 episodes they now have 3 people knowing who they are and another dozen suspecting them as aliens. A bit stretched.

With that said the story at times is just way to 90210 and I actually skipped over some episodes entirely just based on the episode I had just finished watching and the title of the next one "Sexual Healing" for example is one I skipped after watching an episode of nothing but making out and TNA. No thanks! I want some sci-fi in my alien stories.

The actors in this series are entertaining and talented. I think that Michael's character as the 'bad ass' alien with a chip on his shoulder is just out-standing. And the relationships between the different characters are perfect. You dont have any one character that you dont like or that you think doesnt quite fit.. at least not till the end when they introduce Tess who at the end of Season 1 really still did not fit for me.

I dont want to give away to much of the story since you need to go watch the whole thing if you have not but basically in Season one they try to discover who they are and where they are from. They end up locating 2 other aliens near the end and also end up part of a government plot being hunted by Alien Hunters. So although some of the episodes are nothing but teeny bopper cheese their are some great scenes and the ending of this series was so good that I actually got up off my ass and went and bought Season 2 which I am watching now.

Overall I give Season One of Roswell a 7.5 out of 10. Look for my review of Season 2 of Roswell as soon as I finish watching it.  I am hoping they continue to develop the characters and that we get to see even more action especially now that the 3 aliens have become 5 and they know that they are being hunted.... dun dun dun..... .stay tuned!!!!
