Posted by:

The Hakeeminator 4000 is back once again with his weekend movie guide on what you should be spending your hard earned wooden nickells on. So withoutb further ado, Hakeem's Guide to the Weekend of April 22nd This is what's coming out in the US this weekend and how many theatres it is playing in.

  • The Interpreter - 2758
  • A Lot Like Love - 2502
  • Kung Fu Hustle - 2500
  • King's Ransom - 1508

The Interpreter: a high profile political thriller by Sydney Pollack and starring Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, and Oscar nominee Catherine Keener. The movie is a can't miss and it doesn't, so we get an excellent story, strong performances, great action and amazing filmmaking. All that happens up until the last 20 minutes of the movie, and my suggestion is to get up and leave at that point, but I know it's impossible that someone would do that, but really, the ending is shit. A Lot Like Love: Ashton Kutcher continues a very good year so far for him with a very likeable romantic comedy costarring Amanda Peet. The movie is really sweet, and it never goes too stupid though the leads usually act like children when they are together but for me it came out kind of realistic instead of stupid. The supporting characters add nothing to the story but it's not a problem because Ashton and Amanda do a perfect job in these performances, specially when they are at the same time on screen. My Review: ***Coming Soon***

King's Ransom:  Almost zero promotion for this movie starring the sometimes funny Anthony Anderson as a millionare somebody who gets kidnapped. Jay Mohr costars once again in a movie with an almost entire black cast. TV very funny guys Donald Faison (Scrubs) and Charlie Murphy (Chappelle Show) costar too. My Review: ***Not Coming Anytime Soon***

Kung Fu Hustle: Stephen Chow bring us Kung Fu like we've never seen it before, not counting Anime of course. It has broad comedy, a lot of characters great and different, and great kung fu action mixed with superpowers. One of the best movies of the year and a must see.
