To celebrate overloading our website with readers and crashing it for 12+ hours Hakeem is back with , Hakeem's Movie Guide to the April 15th Weekend

This is what's coming out in the US this weekend and the number of theatres

Movie - Theatres
-----------------------------------------
1- The Amityville Horror - 3,323
2- State Property 2 - 202
3- Down and Derby - 58
4- The Year of the Yao - 12

The Amityville Horror: The best horror movie of the year so far is this remake of the 1975 classic about a family moving to a possessed house that wants them out. Compared to the original, it's scarier, gorier, and overall just a better movie. And though is the only movie opening nationwide this week, don't go see it because of that, go see it because you'll get scared, and because Ryan Reynolds rules and he's awesome here. My Review: Amityville Horror Review

State Property 2:  I hate movies that are not promoted, and I don't know where did this come from, nor if it's a real movie or not. IMDB says it's a (get this) musical/action/crime/drama, and the stars are Mariah Carey and the now deceased Ol' Dirty Bastard, and none of them are apparently playing characters. So it has no actors, the genre doesn't make sense, and nobody knows is coming out this weekend. Go figure why.

Down and Derby: So State Property 2 didn't have any promotion, but I guess the urban audiences that movie targets probably knows something about it, but what about Down and Derby? a family comedy with Lauren Holly and Pat Morita that has also had zero promotion.
A bunch of kids nobody knows costar.

I actually had a chance to see this one but it was on a Saturday morning and there's no way I was going to get out of bed early to see a movie nobody knows nor will ever know about.

The Year of the Yao: I'm a huge Houston Rockets fan, so I wouldn't mind seeing a documentary about Yao Ming if I had the chance (which I haven't). The documentary follows the young basketball superstar since he came to America to play professionally, how he worked around the language barrier thanks to his translator, and how he become the huge personality he is now. I would love to see this one if I could.
