4th Horseman reviews THE FOGPosted by: 4thHorsemanWell, with the preview of the Fog during the Dukes of Hazzards movie, i thought i would go out and buy the old version. So of course i did, and i watched it the other day. So here is my review: Storywise: Truthfully, it could have been better. The whole thing with the fog coming into the town and weird stuff starting to happen was a good start. However, when the person finds out why the pirate zombie things are invading the town and killing people, i was disappointed. I found the thing after the revealing to be lame and stupid. After the success of Halloween, where Carpenter shows that the scariest people are ones that can actually EXIST, he comes out with this hunk of crap about killer pirate zombies....fantastic....Could have been a good movie, but demolished by the end of it. Setting: Pretty good. Like any Carpenter movie, he really sets the scene pretty damn well. Dark, creepy, etc etc. Carpenter is always at his best when it comes to the settings of horror movies, and this one was no different. At times it was cheesy (such as the fog just rolling up past a streetlight out of nowhere), but most of the time he did a good job setting the mood of the movie. Acting: I dont know about this. I gave it a 8, but i'm still a lil unsure. There were parts i liked and didn't like. Jamie Lee Curtis's character is an obvious slut who sleeps with men before even knowing their names. So of course, I give that man my props for sleeping with Jamie Lee Curtis without even giving his name. He's a pimp. Otherwise, a typical horror movie with some bad acting, some good. Directing: It's Carpenter, so he knows what he's doing....I dont know what exactly to say here...but it's a Carpenter movie through and through Music/Sounds: Pretty good here too. Definately a mood setter again, and Carpenter knows when to use it well in his movie. He's a genious, so what else can i say... Overall it was a decent movie. Would i watch it again...probably not, and i'll definately skip the remake. The Fog was exactly that, something that fogged up my brain for the hour and a half it was on. I got nothing from it really, it was a pretty boring movie. Horror wise...not that scary, but not as bad as some other horror movies i've seen. So i guess if you want to watch it, pick it up. However you're not missing anything if you don't...
