Valkys Alien Apocalypse Movie ReviewPosted by:I awaited the date of the premere of Alien Apocalypse with great anticipation, always salivating at the idea of another Bruce Campbell project. When the time came I slammed my bedroom door shut, curled up with all the coffee and cigarettes I could possibly need so I wouldn't miss one minute of the action, and tuned into Sci-Fi. Right from the opening scene I could tell that this would be memorable. Wisecracking Galore! Our hero Bruce is one of a group of astronauts returning from a "space probe" mission where they just recently awoke from a 40 year nap. Upon returning to earth they are alarmed to see that it appears to have undergone some radical changes, for instance...all the buildings are blown up and there are no signs of civilization immediately visible. As the group moves onward, lamenting their situation they encounter a duo of unwashed men wielding firearms. While the group tries to reason with these "primates" they shoot the injured member of the space team and are captured and brought to their new home, a prison camp. They are brought before their captors, green insects that look like big praying mantis in my opinion. The leader of our space team gets cocky with the giant bugs and is rewarded with his head becoming a tasty treat for the buggy commander. The remaining captives, now reduced to Bruce Campbell and Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle of Xena:Warrior Princess) are led to a workyard that is piled high with lumber. We find out that wood is a precious commodity to our alien invaders and the remaining human slaves are forced to work harvesting lumber for them. The penalty for attempting to escape is the chopping off of one of your fingers. If you lose all your fingers you can no longer work and renders you expendable. Of course our hero Dr. Ivan (Bruce Campbell) is having none of this and immediately decides to rally the captives to attempt escape. They are fearful and refuse, pinning all their hopes on a rumour that the President of the United States has survived and is gathering a fighting force to free them, although nothing has happened in that regard for more than 20 years. Bruce decides to poo-poo the waiting for the calvery and go find the president himself taking along a young man from the camp who is brave enough to take action. Along their journey to find the prez they meet several ragged survivors whom Brucey charms into following him on his mission for "freedom." A scantily-clad female also joins them, being the bravest of her clan. To make a long story short, they do find the president who is NOT forming some elite fighting force but staring out the window and painting all day, and the group decides after some harsh (but hilarious)words from Dr. Ivan, to continue on their quest for freedom on their own. Green Goo flies through the air as the surviving humans fight the alien menace and win their freedom. Of course Bruce being the Knight in shining jumpsuit? Instead of being known as "The Great Healer" as he originally intended, he is henceforth known as "The Great Exterminator." If you did not get the chance to see this movie I suggest you demand Sci-Fi to replay it many many times! If you are in an area that does not recieve Sci-Fi channel than contact a friend or family member who does and get them to record it for you. Alien Apocalypse is great fun to watch, a must-see for any Bruce Campbell fan. Look for many chuckles from the constant one-liners spewing forth from the mouth of Bruce. Well, what are you waiting for? Go find a way to see this movie! NOW!! Review By Valkyrie
