Zack Snyder directing Rainbow Six

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder ("Dawn of the Dead Remake"), has come aboard to develop and direct Paramount Pictures '"Rainbow Six", based on the Tom Clancy novel. Before Snyder, also John Woo has been in talks for directing the movie.

Paramount already produced 4 Tom Clancy adaptations ("The Hunt for Red October", "Patriot Games", "Clear and Present Danger" and "The Sum of All Fears").  It also has acquired the author's "Red Rabbit", and "Splinter Cell" is also in pre-production right now.

"Rainbow Six" tells the story of Ex-Navy SEAL John Clark, who is the newly named head of "Rainbow", an international task force dedicated to combating terrorism. In a trial by fire, he must stop a terrorist group of men and women so extreme that their success could literally mean the end of life on earth as we know it.

The character John Clark has already been in 2 Tom Clancy movies - "Clear and Present Danger" (portrayed by Willem Dafoe) and "The Sum of All Fears" (portrayed by Liev Schreiber).
