Spielberg buys Baywatch Movie Rights!

The creators of the Baywatch series sometime ago confirmed that they have sold the theatrical rights to Baywatch to Dreamworks SKG. All we know at this point is that it was a 7 figure deal and that the Baywatch movie is slated to hit theatres in 2006. Michael Berk & Eli Roth will produce the movie for Dreamworks.
 
Well just today MSN is reporting that Spielberg is indeed at the helm of this picture and that he will bring it to the theatres. I have no idea how even the great spielberg can salvage a good movie out of this but hey if anyone can, he can!

This movie will go immediately into production but there is no word on who from the baywatch tv series will be making an apperance in the movie. Will the busty blondes return? Will Knight Rider get back into his swimming trunks to beat the beaches?
