Land of the Dead Producers Form Company!

According to Horror-Movies.ca, the guys that are producing "Land of the Dead", Mark Canton and Ryan Kavanaugh, are joing forces to create Chiller Films. Canton told Variety,

"After we unearthed the horror master, we seemed to come upon an endless number of opportunities for films in the horror genre. If anything, the market is expanding."

"On single-picture financing, it might be easier than any other genre right now," Kavanaugh says. "In one-offs, you can use hedge funds, foreign sales, all kinds of strategies to maximize your ownership position. Even if horror doesn't stay as hot as it has been, there is still a fundamental audience and a comparably low-risk film investment."

Apparently they don't have any projects yet but they are looking at some older film for remake rights. Well I'm not really thrilled about that but at least we have another studio that will pick up quality movies and mass market them. Hopefully we'll hear more from them later.

Any team from "Land of the Dead" is a good team in my books, expecially the producers. So I wish them lots of luck and will be sure to plug their films as we hear about them!
