Diamond Dead is Dead?

Well it would seem that Diamond Dead is quite literally dead. Today I went to do my checkup on the site to see how things are going and check their boards and the site no longer exists. The Webmaster for Brian Cooper, the writer of the movie is a member of our site and I am sure as soon as he reads this he can update us and give us the lowdown.

According to the official Diamond Dead website, they had lost a large portion of their funding from their UK investors. Apparently the UK investors had said that they would pull funding unless the filming was completed before April 5th (end of the UK tax year). The main reason for the cut is George Romero is currently working on his other project, Land of the Dead. Which we can all enjoy in theatres soon!

It's unfortunate news for the Diamond Dead project, but apparently they have about 50-75% of their funding still intact and they are hoping to get those UK investors interested again once George is ready to resume work on the project. Here is what Andrew Gaty (producer of Diamond Dead) had to say:

In some respects it was unfortunate for our financing that George had to do Land of the Dead before Diamond Dead, but he had little choice. If I were George, probably I would have done the same. Thatâ€™s how it goes in this crazy business. But we will never give up.

So at this point I dont know what the status is but the funding is reportedly gone, the website is gone, and it seems Diamond Dead has gone the way of the dinosaur.... or has it? Stay tuned for another update soon!
