New Chinese Horror Film Suffocation

According to Kung Fu Cult Cinema the Chinese mainland king of comedy, Ge You, whose films include Big Shot's Funeral and Cell Phone, has released his first horror film Suffocation across China [on Saturday].

Suffocation, directed by China's sixth generation filmmaker, Zhang Bingjian, is based on the Japanese horror fiction of same name, also marks China's first psychological cliffhanger film. Ge You throws off his past comic image to portray a photographer, who has an hallucination of killing his wife after he's involved in an accident.

Golden Horse award winning actress Qin Hailu also has a role in the film as Ge You's wife.
