On June 18th, 2004 we reported that Paramount has announced that they have chosen Scott Kosar to write the script for a remake of George A. Romero's "The Crazies". Now, according to Fango, it looks like director Brad Anderson could become the director.

Here's what Fangoria reported:

Scott Kosar, who scripted the Amittyville Horror remake (which opens May 15), gave Fangoria the scoop that another redux he's penning, an update of George Romero's "The Crazies", may reunite him with the director of last year's acclaimed "The Machinist".

"Paramount is in discussion with Brad Anderson (my favorite of all directors) to do "The Crazies". I don't know if it's going to happen just yet, but they're talking about it. My producers really loved "The Machinist"and Brad is super-talented, and they think we have good creative energy together, which we do."

In director George Romero's "The Crazies", a government plane carrying a biological warfare virus crashes near the small Pennsylvania town of Evans City. The virus finds its way into the town’s drinking water, turning everyone who comes in contact with it into a murderous lunatic.
