Hakeem's Movie Guide, March 4th Weekend

Posted by:

Hakeem is back again with his weekend movie picks for what you should be spending your dollars watching. Agree or disagree here is his list for the weekend of March 4th. This is what's coming out in the US this weekend:

Movies playing and Number of  Theatres

  • Be Cool - 3,216
  • The Pacifier - 3,131
  • The Jacket - 1,331
  • Gunner Palace - 8

Be Cool:
Fun, but ultimately a very commercial movie with product placement all over it. So many characters that only a couple of them really work like The Rock as a gay bodyguard who's also an aspiring actor, he's the best character in the movie. Christina Milian plays the soon to be superstar singer that they're all trying to manage, and she's good too. The easiest laughs come from Vince Vaughn's character, a music manager who thinks he's black.

John Travolta and Uma Thurman are the leads but they're not really interesting. Travolta has only one face expression during the whole movie and all he does is staying calm against any situation. Uma saves herself because her very sexy bikini scene. And the much anticipated dance scene reunion is not even close to the greatness they did in Pulp Fiction. Get Shorty fans should like it since this is its sequel.

The Pacifier:
I can't believe it but this movie is really fun. It's a family movie of course but the laughs are a lot and the action scenes are so over the top that come out great instead of being all serious when they shouldn't. A surprise hit for a movie with Vin Diesel and kids.
My Review:
The Pacifier Review

The Jacket:
Very cool. A dark, adult thriller, with time traveling, Keira Knightley naked, and the best performance by Adrien Brody after his Oscar Winner The Pianist. A must see for fans of 12 Monkeys, and because of the style, The Machinist and Fight Club to name some. The score is great too. My Review: The Jacket Review

Gunner Palace: a great documentary about a group of soldiers fightin in Iraq who have taken one of Sadam's palaces and there's where they live . Documentary filmmaker Michael Tucker let's the soldiers do most of the talking on what are they doing there and how they live . A movie everybody should see. you can check out a trailer for Gunners Place Here
